FEDERAL LEAGUE Eargle's 27 points sparks Fitch past Massillon Perry



The 55-46 win was the Falcons first in their new league.
MASSILLON -- Terrell Eargle scored 27 points to lead Austintown Fitch to a 55-46 win over Massillon Perry in Friday's Federal League boys basketball opener.
Fitch (5-0, 1-0) trailed 26-24 at the break but surged to a 47-44 lead with about 80 seconds remaining.
Eargle was fouled and made both sides of a 1-and-1 for a 49-44 advantage.
Mark Aikens added 16 points, Nigel Taylor had four assists and Stas Cherney contributed eight points and five rebounds for the Falcons.
Justin Vasiliachs scored 17 points for Perry (1-2, 0-1).
North Canton Hoover 69, Boardman 56
BOARDMAN -- North Canton's Brett Wackerly scored a game-high 29 points to lead the Vikings, who took a 41-21 halftime lead.
Tim Reynolds added 14 points for the Vikings (4-0, 1-0).
Chris Wire had 19 points, seven rebounds and four steals for the Spartans (1-3, 0-1). Jay Davis had 21 points and six rebounds for Boardman, while Mike DeOnofrio had 14 points, four assists and three steals.
Canton McKinley 70,Warren Harding 48
CANTON -- Harding played itself into a 33-16 deficit at the half and could not recover in the non-league affair.
Josh Johnson scored 25 points and had seven rebounds to pace the Raiders.
Ten Bulldogs scored in the game, four in double figures.
