CRIME SOLVER Mercer County
The theft of a purse is the focus of Mercer County Crime Solvers this week:
Crime: Burglary and theft.
Location: Sharon.
Details: Police said a woman who knocked on the door of a home in the 200 block of Elm Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Friday looking for help stole the purse of the woman who answered the door. The thief told the victim her car had broken down and she needed to use a telephone, police said. The victim let the woman in, but when she left the room, the thief snatched her purse from the couch and ran out the door. Police said they were able to follow tracks in the snow from the scene to the 300 block of Fourth Street, where the thief apparently got into a car.
Description: The thief was described as a white woman in her 30s with a thin build and long, straight hair. She wore tennis shoes and a black, mid-length leather coat.
