Two top officials at Youngstown schools get raises
YOUNGSTOWN -- The board of education raised Superintendent Benjamin McGee's salary by almost $10,000 a year and that of district Treasurer Carolyn Funk by $5,000 a year, with both increases retroactive to July 1, 2003.
McGee's salary goes from $102,011 to $112,000, and Funk's goes from $85,132 to $90,132.
The board said in a resolution passed Friday evening that it was raising the salaries to bring them closer to those of superintendents and treasurers in comparable school districts.
The vote was 6-0, with board member Geraldine Sullivan absent. It followed a one-hour executive session on the superintendent's evaluation.
Compensation for Wendy Webb, who will succeed McGee when he retires next summer, has not been established. The new board, which will have four newly elected members, will convene at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 12.
