New pastor called
AUSTINTOWN -- The Rev. Arthur C. Wells of Reed City, Mich., will begin as pastor of Austintown Baptist Church, 1180 S. Raccoon Road, on Sunday. He will also serve as the chaplain for Southern Care Hospice in Youngstown.
He has served Southern Baptist churches since 1977, most recently as associate pastor at Charity Baptist Church in Big Rapids, Mich., where he also served as a chaplain with Hospice of Michigan.
He's a graduate of Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio, with a bachelor's degree in business management. He received his master of divinity degree at the Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Mo.
Evening mass set
BOARDMAN -- The Filipino-American community of greater Youngstown will have its sixth annual Simbang Gabi, or evening Mass, at 6 p.m. Sunday at Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St. The Rev. 'Christ Consciousness' talk

New book offered
COLUMBIANA -- Ellen Thompson of Columbiana has written a book, "The Answer to Everything," that is now available at www.1stBooks.com. The book is a compilation of 47 poems and eight essays meant to encourage people to walk with God to find contentment. Subjects include her husband, David, and her search for a job.
Metaphysical talks
WARREN -- The Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research, 3323 Parkman Road, Suite 5, will offer talks at 7 p.m. Christmas Day. One talk will be on the pagan and other traditions surrounding Christmas, and the second will be a continuation of a talk about the popular thriller "The Da Vinci Code."
Christmas program
LISBON -- Lisbon First United Methodist Church, 114 E. Washington St., will present its annual children's program at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The children will present, "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever." A visit from Santa and refreshments will follow.
Vatican exhibit trip
WARREN -- St. Cyril & amp; Methodius Church, 185 Laird Ave. N.E., is sponsoring a trip March 24 to 25 to see rare items from the Vatican on display in Cincinnati. Divorce program set

Ordination set
SHARON, Pa. -- The Rev. Mark R. Juchter of Erie, Pa., will be ordained as a curate at 1 p.m. today in St. John's Episcopal Church. As curate, he will serve in a training period at the church for about two years. He will be ordained by Bishop Robert D. Rowley of the Diocese of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
