New candy bar soonfor low-carb crowd
HERSHEY, Pa. -- Hoping to tap into the growing number of consumers who have adopted low-carbohydrate diets, Hershey's Foods Corp. is introducing a new chocolate-flavored product.
Hershey's 1 Gram Sugar Carb bars are made from sugar alcohol and fiber instead of traditional sweeteners, so they contain only one gram of sugar per 1.1-ounce bar, and boast 20 percent fewer calories than the company's conventional milk-chocolate bar.
The bars will sell for $1.19-$1.49 and will be shipped starting in early 2004.
McDonald's to focuson its french fries
OAK BROOK, Ill. -- McDonald's Corp. is ready for the next step in its latest big marketing push: Advertise the fries.
The hamburger chain said Friday it has chosen the DDB Worldwide agency, led by DDB Chicago, to develop a worldwide french fry advertising campaign in 2004.
The company also has been working on plans for a new cooking oil for its fries. It pledged in September 2002 to switch to the new oil last February, saying it would halve trans fatty acid levels. But McDonald's later delayed the plan indefinitely, citing product quality and customer satisfaction as priorities.
