Ursuline-Hardinggames postponed
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Warren Harding-Ursuline junior varsity and varsity girls basketball games scheduled for today at Ursuline have been postponed because of the flu, Ursuline athletic director Jim Maughan said.
The teams will play Jan. 12 in Warren and Jan. 29 in Youngstown.
However, the freshman game scheduled for today at 4:15 will still be played.
Laura Kaulensecond in marathon
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Laura Kaulen, 27, of Austintown finished second among 221 female runners in the Rocket City Marathon last weekend.
Kaulen completed the race in 2 hours, 53 minutes, 14 seconds. Alevtina Naoumova of Gainesville, Fla., was first in 2:44.25.

Junior Olympianstraining at Southside
YOUNGSTOWN -- Four Junior Olympians at the Southside Boxing Club, trained by Jack Loew, are entered in the Ohio Silver Gloves Championships, which begin this weekend at the Douglas Recreation Center in Columbus.
They are 8-year-old Alejandro Salinas; his 11-year-old brother, Juan Salinas; 12-year-old Marquevis Givens; and 12-year-old Ronnie Hamayel.
The Columbus Silver Gloves winners will advance to Michigan for the Regional Championships, and from there it is on to the national championships in Kansas.
Matt Kanetskyis academic honoree
ADA -- Matt Kanetsky, a senior quarterback for the Ohio Northern University football team from Hubbard High, has been named to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team as an honorable mention.
Kanetsky, who played in six games in a reserve role this year, carries a 3.8 grade-point average majoring in biology and pre-medicine.
He completed 12 of 18 passes for 148 yards and one touchdown this season.
Last year, Kanetsky made the Academic All-OAC first team after starting three games and completing 57 of 130 passes for 779 yards and five TDs.
For his career, Kanetsky completed 72 of 155 passes for 960 yards, six TDs and a quarterback rating of 94.48.
Malone coach named
CANTON -- Malone College men's and women's cross country coach Jack Hazen was named the head distance coach of the U.S. team in the 2005 World Track & amp; Field championship meet to be held in Helsinki, Finland.
Hazen will be in charge of all U.S. distance runners from 800 meters on through the marathon, approximately 25 athletes.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Championship Auto Racing Teams filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization as part of a buyout that would continue the open-wheeled car racing series but eventually phase out the CART name.
