Board member vies for Unit IV spot
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Wilmington Area School Board is submitting the name of John Fauzey, newly elected board member, for consideration to fill one of three vacancies on the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV board.
Intermediate Unit IV is an education service agency for public schools in Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties.
Three board members from the intermediate board resigned after they were not re-elected to their district's school board -- Norman Goodrich of Laurel School District, Carl McConnell of Mohawk School District and Karen Houk of Neshannock School District.
Nancy DeWoody, school board secretary, said Wilmington has not had a representative on the intermediate unit board for a number of years. The intermediate board will make the final decision.
In other business Monday, the board granted permission for 24 Future Farmers of America students to attend the Pennsylvania State Farm Show in Harrisburg in January and hired David Spalding of Austintown as a part-time after-school psychologist for $60 an hour.
