Student offers an invitation to benefactor

STAFF/WIRE REPORT
SHARON, Pa. -- A college student would like to invite the person who has paid part of his bills for the past four years to his graduation, but there's one problem -- he doesn't know who it is.
Matthew Dixon, 26, of Sharon, has put the word out that he'd like his unknown benefactor to come to his graduation from Penn State's Shenango campus in Sharon on Friday so that he can thank whoever it is in person.
"They have been a huge part of my college education. ... The person, to me, is fantastic," said Dixon, who will graduate with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
Despite a list of possible benefactors, Dixon says he has no idea who it could be.
"Someone who really believes in me. I honestly think it is someone who I'm going to least expect," Dixon said.
He began receiving monthly envelopes containing cash in the mail in 1999, sometimes with a note or a holiday greeting card, but said he's never received any information that could be used to identify his benefactor.
He declined to reveal how much he's received and said the cash has always been mailed to a relative's home, not to him directly.
Dixon is originally from Greenville and said he thinks his benefactor may be from that area.
