Duke powers past Princeton with home-court dominance



Pittsburgh won its 29th straight game at home by defeating Chicago State.

DURHAM, N.C. -- Freshman Luol Deng scored 18 points to lead No. 3 Duke to a 69-51 victory over Princeton on Wednesday night.
The Blue Devils (7-1) extended the nation's longest home winning streak to 32 games.
Andre Logan had 16 points for Princeton (4-3), which was playing its highest-ranked team since 1997.
The Tigers trailed by eight points with 71/2 minutes left before Deng scored on a driving layup to give Duke a double-digit lead. Two minutes later, Deng hit a 3-pointer and his assist on a three-point play by Shelden Williams put Duke up 61-49 with 3:51 remaining.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Channing Frye scored 18 of his career-high 26 points in the second half as Arizona escaped with the win. The Wildcats (5-1) trailed 76-69 with three minutes to play, but outscored the Gaels 15-2 the rest of the way. Salim Stoudamire scored six of his 16 points in the late run.

CINCINNATI -- Jason Maxiell scored 20 points to lead Cincinnati, which was coming off a 15-day layoff. The Bearcats (5-0) forced 25 turnovers with halfcourt traps, which set up a 27-5 spurt midway through the first half. Olu Babalola scored 13 points for Clemson (4-4).

PITTSBURGH -- Julius Page scored 14 points in only 18 minutes as the Panthers (9-0) extended their home winning streak to a school-record 29 straight games. Tony Weeden had 14 points for Chicago State (1-8), which has lost 39 straight road games and 27 in a row overall against Division I opponents.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Billy Edelin scored 14 points in the second half to rally Syracuse to its fourth straight victory. Gerry McNamara scored 16 points for Syracuse (4-1), while Hakim Warrick had 12 points and 10 rebounds and freshman Louie McCroskey added eight points. Luis Flores led Manhattan (3-2) with 22 points, while Jason Benton had 14 and Dave Holmes 12 points.
