Daughter convicted of murder, aggravated arson in dad's death

CANTON (AP) -- A teenager was convicted of helping to plan and carry out the killing of her father in a fire at the family's apartment last year.
Crystal Starcher, 17, of Massillon was found guilty of aggravated murder and aggravated arson Wednesday by a Stark County Common Pleas Court jury. She could be sentenced to life in prison without parole by Judge Richard D. Reinbold Jr. at a hearing Monday.
Starcher's father, Ernest Dean Anderson, 52, died in the early morning fire Dec. 11, 2002, as she watched from the street with her mother, her brother and her husband, Donald Starcher.
Family members' trials
In previous trials, Vickie Anderson, 49, the victim's wife, pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and aggravated arson. She was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Her son, Jonathan Dean Anderson, 19, was found guilty of aggravated murder. He was sentenced to life without parole for at least 25 years, plus 10 years for aggravated arson.
Crystal Starcher's husband, Donald Starcher, 18, pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and aggravated arson. He was sentenced to life without parole for at least 25 years.
Family members told fire investigators the family dog started the blaze by knocking over an oil lamp used because the electricity had been shut off.
Assistant County Prosecutor Dennis Barr told the jury in Crystal Starcher's case that Vickie Anderson gave police different stories for wanting her husband dead, including retaliation for his alleged beatings and to get money from his insurance policy.
