INDIANAPOLIS -- Beth Jones made a 3-pointer from the corner with 1.8 seconds left, lifting Purdue to victory over UCLA. Lisa Willis made two free throws to give UCLA a 57-55 lead with 8.6 seconds left, but Erika Valek drove the length of the court and found Jones for the winning shot. Jones finished with 12 points, and Shereka Wright added 17 on 7-for-12 shooting as Purdue (6-1) overcame 32 turnovers and extended its winning streak to six games. Emily Heikes finished with 11 rebounds for the Boilermakers. Willis and Nikki Blue each scored 20 points for UCLA (2-3).
No. 14 Oklahoma 79, Stephen F. Austin 52
NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Maria Villarroel scored 24 points and Dionnah Jackson added 15 in Oklahoma's victory over Stephen F. Austin. Villarroel shot 10-of-12 from the field, and Jackson went 7-of-13 with five assists for Oklahoma (8-0). Backup Britany Vinson scored 18 points, shooting 4-of-7 on 3-pointers for Stephen F. Austin (0-7). Kirby Killingsworth added 10 points, and LaToya Mills had eight points, 11 rebounds and four steals. The Sooners outscored Stephen F. Austin in the paint 26-6 during the first half and led 42-28 at the break. Overall, Oklahoma shot 51 percent while holding Stephen F. Austin to 38 percent shooting. The Sooners also forced 27 turnovers, including nine by Tiffany Perkins.
No. 20 Virginia Tech 63, Maryland 43
BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Carrie Mason scored 12 of her 16 points in the second half, and Virginia Tech remained unbeaten with a victory over Maryland. Mason hit a 3-pointer to cap a 13-0 run that gave the Hokies (7-0) a 47-26 lead with 8:27 remaining. Virginia Tech went on to lead by as many as 23 points. Kalika France led Maryland (6-2) with 12 points, and Anesia Smith and Shay Doron had 10 each. Only three other Terps scored. The Hokies led 21-15 at the break, and started the second half with a 9-2 spurt capped by Ieva Kublina's jumper that gave the Hokies a 30-17 lead. Doron's five points in a 7-0 run pulled Maryland to 34-26 with 14:39 left, but the Terps got no closer. Maryland shot just 34 percent and was outrebounded 46-27. Kublina had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Hokies. Kerri Gardin added 13 points.
No. 21 Utah 61, Washington St. 51
SALT LAKE CITY -- Kim Smith had 17 points and Shona Thorburn 16 for Utah, which extended is home winning streak to 20 games with a victory over Washington State. Carley Marshall added 10 points as the Utes (6-2) held Washington State to 32-percent shooting. Jessica Perry scored 16 points and Kate Benz added 10 for the Cougars (4-3), who have lost three of their last four games. Utah rebounded from a 73-65 loss at then-No. 16 Oklahoma last Sunday and led almost all the way. But the Utes were never able to gain a comfortable edge.
