Convergys acquiresbilling from Alltell
CINCINNATI -- Convergys Corp., the Cincinnati-based billing and customer services giant, is acquiring billing and customer care assets from Alltell Communications Inc. for $37 million. Convergys said that it expects to close the deal with the subsidiary of the telecommunications company Alltell Corp. on Dec. 31.
With the acquisition, Convergys will begin providing billing services to more than 10.5 million additional wireless and wireline subscribers and will add several corporations to its list of clients. New clients include Cingular, Centennial Communications and Commonwealth Telephone.
More than 220 Alltell employees will be retained by Convergys.
The Little Rock, Ark.-based Alltell Corp. provides wireless, local telephone, long-distance, Internet and high-speed data services to residential and business customers in 26 states. The company has more than 12 million customers.
