LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The teacher had one more lesson for his student.
Rick Pitino got his 400th career victory when Louisville beat top-ranked Florida 73-65 Saturday, yet another win over one of his former assistant coaches.
This one over Billy Donovan, who also played for Pitino at Providence, improved his record against former assistants to 14-1.
Francisco Garcia had 21 points for the Cardinals (4-1), who led by as many as 15 in the second half then sealed the win by holding Florida (5-2) without a field goal over the final 67 seconds.
No. 17 Gonzaga 87, No. 3 Missouri 80, OT
SEATTLE -- Ronny Turiaf scored 17 of his 23 points in the second half, then added another four points in overtime as Gonzaga beat Missouri.
Blake Stepp had 14 points and 10 assists while freshman Adam Morrison scored 17 points in a reserve role as Gonzaga (7-1) won its seventh straight.
It was Turiaf, though, who delivered for the Zags.
He backed into the paint and flipped the ball in for a basket that gave Gonzaga an 81-80 lead with 1:01 to play in overtime. Then at the other end of the court, he drew an offensive foul on Missouri's Ricky Paulding with 36 seconds remaining.
No. 5 Kansas 77, Oregon 67
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Wayne Simien had 19 points and 14 rebounds and Kansas withstood a second-half rally to beat Oregon.
Simien, playing in Kemper Arena for the first time since he dislocated his shoulder in the aging facility last January and missed 22 games, consistently worked inside against the Ducks and played perhaps his best game of the season.
The Jayhawks (5-1) took a 49-36 lead early in the second half on consecutive 3-pointers by freshman J.R.Giddens, who had 18 points.
No. 9 Arizona 85, No. 22 Marquette 75
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Salim Stoudamire had a career-high seven 3-pointers and Arizona stormed back from a 15-point second-half deficit to hand Marquette its first loss of the season.
The Wildcats (4-1) trailed 50-35 with 17:15 to play but outscored the Warriors 50-25 the rest of the way, even though Stoudamire was on the bench most of the time with four fouls.
The run was 50-21 before a late four-point play by Marquette's Steve Novak with 3 seconds to go.
Stoudamire, 7-for-9 from 3-point range, scored 27 points, while Hassan Adams added 20, 14 in the second half, and blocked two shots late for Arizona. His breakaway stuff after a turnover capped a 12-0 run that put the Wildcats up 74-64 with 3:42 remaining.
No. 10 Georgia Tech 75, Saint Louis 62
ATLANTA -- B.J. Elder scored 17 points and had two steals during a game-changing run early in the second half to help Georgia Tech beat Saint Louis in the Peach Bowl Classic.
The Yellow Jackets (8-0) continued their best start since 1989-90, and they easily could run the streak to 13 straight before traveling to North Carolina for the Atlantic Coast Conference opener Jan. 11.
No. 13 Stanford 86, UNLV 71
STANFORD, Calif. -- Justin Davis scored a season-high 21 points and unbeaten and Stanford snapped UNLV's four-game winning streak, defeating the Runnin' Rebels.
Davis, three points shy of his career high, and Rob Little dominated the paint in only the third meeting between the schools and Stanford's first home game since beating Sacramento State on Nov. 22.
Davis, a senior forward, received a warm ovation when he left the game with 1:52 remaining. He also had 10 rebounds, three assists, no turnovers and only one foul in arguably the most effective game of his career.
