GIRLS BASKETBALL Grant scores 21 in Irish win



Ashley Armstrong tied a school record with six 3-pointers for West Branch.
ROCKY RIVER -- Tyra Grant scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds Saturday to lead the Ursuline High girls basketball team to a 61-35 victory over Magnificat.
The Irish (4-0) made 50 percent of their field goal attempts (23-of-46).
Rebecca Flattery added 11 points, while Courtney Davis contributed 13 assists with six points to reinforce the Irish.
Christina Gonzalez scored 11 points, while Ali Distelhorst had 10 with five rebounds to lead Magnificat (0-5).
Warren Harding 76, Cleveland South 42
WARREN -- The Raiders (2-2) pulled away in the second quarter to build a commanding 36-16 lead by intermission.
Desirae Jenkins sparked the Raiders with 29 points and four assists.
Nikki Makridis and Labrea Crawford each had nine rebounds. Erika Molden had four steals.
Jefferson 65Newton Falls 56
JEFFERSON -- Lindsey Calland and Kortni Collins each scored 12 points for Newton Falls (1-2), which fell behind 26-10 after the first quarter.
Collins also had 10 rebounds.
Mary Herendeen led Jefferson (3-0) with 18 points.
West Branch 56, Minerva 32
MINERVA -- West Branch senior Ashley Armstrong tied her own school record with six 3-pointers to lead the Warriors in a Northeastern Buckeye Conference game.
Armstrong finished with 27 points, five steals, five rebounds and four assists for the Warriors (5-0, 3-0).
Tori Arndt added six points and five assists, while Stacy Braden had eight points and five rebounds.
Minerva is 0-4, 0-2.
Youngstown Christian 53, East Liverpool Christian 25
YOUNGSTOWN -- Rachel Corstin scored 26 points and had 11 rebounds for the Eagles (2-2). Mallory Diaz added 11 points.
Greenville 54, Conneaut Lake 51
CONNEAUT, Pa. -- Kristen Skelley hit two free throws with eight seconds left and Greenville held off a late Conneaut Lake charge.
Skelley finished with 22 points, seven rebounds and five steals for Greenville (3-2), which took an 18-11 lead entering the second quarter.
Rachel Cascio added 18 points and four steals and Allyson Blaschak had six assists and four steals.
