BOYS BASKETBALL Timken's comeback trips Rayen



YOUNGSTOWN -- Marcus Hunter scored 17 points and David Gardner 14, as Canton Timken came from behind and then held off Rayen for a 62-59 victory Saturday in the City Series opener for both teams.
Rayen held a 34-20 halftime lead, but Timken rallied to tie the game at 43-43 entering the final period.
Eric Raine and Larry Perrin each had nine points to aid Timken (2-0).
Jabray Graham had 17 points to lead Rayen (1-4), while Deon Elliot added 10.
Yo. Christian 60,E. L. Christian 57
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mike Byrdy scored 25 points and had eight rebounds, both team highs, to lead Youngstown Christian to its first win of the season.
Carrington Ford finished with 14 points, as did Aaron Agresta, while Mark Pecchia and Patrick Bader added three steals each for Youngstown.
Western Reserve 81, Leetonia 26
BERLIN CENTER -- The Blue Devils (2-2) put six players in double figures and every player in the lineup got into the scoring column.
Mark Dickerhoof led the Blue Devils with 13 points. Matt Speece, Brock Christie, Dave Ferrando and Nick Sanders added 11 apiece and Jake Zatchok had 10.
Western Reserve had a 39-26 rebounding advantage, with Zatchok grabbing 11. Ferrando had five assists.
John Williams led the Bears (1-2) with seven points.
Hubbard 59, Warren JFK 45
WARREN -- Jeff Jablonski hit four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 18 points for Hubbard (2-1). Colin Clemente scored 13 points to pace JFK (2-2).
Uniontown Lake 61, West Branch 39
UNIONTOWN -- The Blue Streaks (3-0) owned a 33-7 lead at halftime. Adam Martig led West Branch (1-3) with 11 points and five rebounds.
Canton McKinley 87, East Liverpool 68
EAST LIVERPOOL -- The Bulldogs (3-0) put four players in double figures, with Jason Snow sparking the team with 16 points. Brian Keefer led the Potters (1-2) with 13 points.
