PENNSYLVANIA Mohawk keeps record perfect



The Warriors beat Our Lady of Sacred Heart for their sixth straight win.
BESSEMER, Pa. -- Unbeaten Mohawk High kept its early-season win streak rolling as it trounced Our Lady of Sacred Heart 72-42 Friday.
The Warriors (6-0) jumped out to a 19-9 lead in the first quarter and were in command 35-23 at the break.
Shawn Carr led nine Mohawk players into the scoring column with 16 points, and he had three steals. Shane Finnin and Dave Hodge each had 10 points.
Jeremy Gebhart grabbed seven of 35 rebounds.
Eric Metcalf took scoring honors for the Chargers with 21 points.
Shenango 77, Union 52
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Shenango was hitting on all cylinders as the Wildcats (5-2) rolled over Union.
Steve McNees, a 6-2 sophomore point guard, had 25 points, 10 assists and eight steals for the winners, who also beat the Scotties in a tipoff tournament on Nov. 28, 77-69.
Terry Grossetti, a 6-4 senior guard, had 15 points and seven of Shenango's 26 rebounds.
Phil Thompson added 14 points for the winners.
Rob Burkes had 18 points for Union, a Class A school that reached the state finals in Hershey last season.
Union collected 22 rebounds.
Laurel 61, Rochester 44
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Junior center Mike Burkett, 6-5, scored a career-high 35 points for the Spartans (5-0).
Bobby Turner chipped in with 16 and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Spartans, tied 23-23 at the break, pulled ahead with an 18-10 spurt in the third quarter.
Derek Moye led Rochester (0-5) with 11 points.
Kennedy Catholic 61, Wilmington 30
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- David Jackson, Sharron Summerville and Roddy Fuller combined for 39 points to lead Kennedy Catholic to its fifth straight win after a season-opening loss to Erie Prep.
Jackson, a 6-5 sophomore forward, had 16 points; Summerville, a 6-3 senior guard, had 13 points and Fuller, a sophomore guard, added 10 for the winners.
Junior Shamus Reimold grabbed six of 22 rebounds.
Marquis Alston was the only Wilmington player in double figures with 13 points.
