INTER-COUNTY LEAGUE Springfield wins league opener, 51-28, over Ridge



Jackson-Milton rallied to defeat Southington in a non-conference game.
MINERAL RIDGE -- Lindsay Johnson scored 14 points and Angelina Fiurmara added 13, leading the Springfield High girls basketball team to a 51-28 victory over Mineral Ridge Monday in an Inter-County League opener.
The Tigers (4-0, 1-0) dominated the boards, 52-15, as Carrie Davis grabbed 14 and Johnson 10.
Brandy Hall led the Rams (1-4, 0-1) with 11 points and six rebounds.
McDonald 47,Lordstown 35
LORDSTOWN -- Ahead 34-30, the Blue Devils (2-3) put the contest away with a 13-5 spurt in the fourth quarter.
Ashleigh Tondo sparked the Blue Devils with 21 points and Amy Dolsak chipped in with 15.
Lisa Allison led the Red Devils with 18 points.
South Range 47,Western Reserve 43
BERLIN CENTER -- South Range, trailing 18-13 at halftime, outscored the Blue Devils 20-8 in the third quarter.
Sara Chizmar and Kelly Skrinyer led South Range (2-2, 1-0 ICL) with 12 and 10 points respectively.
Emily Johnson took scoring honors for the Blue Devils (2-2, 0-1 ICL) with 17 points. Sara Kutsko and Erica Zimmerman each had four rebounds.
Jackson-Milton 45,Southington 29
NORTH JACKSON -- Southington scored the first eight points of the contest, but the Bluejays (3-2) answered with 11 straight.
Jackson-Milton built a 27-15 lead by intermission.
Sarah Johnson sparked the Bluejays with 11 points. Joanna Woloschak grabbed nine rebounds.
Dottie Plock led the Wildcats (1-4) with 10 points.
Lowellville 69,Mathews 48
VIENNA -- Amanda Nero had 20 points and 10 steals to lead Lowellville.
Dana Donatelli added 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Rockets (2-2, 1-0 ICL), while Kaitlin McCarthy had 13 points.
Tara Ford led Mathews (1-2, 0-1) with 17 points.
