Former Notre Dame coach Bob Davie said he turned down the job of head football coach at Cincinnati. The Bearcats' athletic director said the job was never offered. "He pursued this job and he wasn't close to being offered it," UC's Bob Goin said. Goin said Davie, who played at Youngstown State, was among six candidates whose names were forwarded to an evaluation committee, but he was adamant that no one had been offered the job.

Mario Lemieux still isn't close to returning to the ice, more than six weeks after he injured his left hip. Lemieux hasn't been on skates since Nov. 10 and has told Pittsburgh Penguins officials he is still having trouble with routine tasks such as getting in and out of a car.
