BROWNS Davis not interested in Nebraska job

The Cleveland coach said he'd love to finish his career with the Browns.
BEREA -- Cleveland Browns coach Butch Davis went a step further Friday in trying to end rumors that he is a candidate for the Nebraska coaching job.
Davis said he would like to make Cleveland his last coaching stop.
"I want to stay here. I would like to finish my career here. I want to be here a long time," Davis said after practice Friday. "I have no interest in the Nebraska job."
Davis, 52, is in the third year of a five-year, $16 million contract with the Browns.
Contract extension
Browns president Carmen Policy has brought up a possible contract extension for Davis several times this season. It was believed the Browns would announce an extension sometime in the upcoming offseason.
However, Davis has failed to meet expectations of taking the Browns to the playoffs for the second straight season. Cleveland (4-9) has lost six of seven going into Sunday's game at Denver while struggling with injuries and the suspension of running back William Green.
Rumors have persisted that Davis might go elsewhere, especially considering the Browns' problems.
Asked if he talked to his players about the Nebraska rumors, Davis said, "I didn't think the issue was that important. There's already been way too much talk about this thing."
Told agent to decline
Davis said Thursday that he told his agent Marvin Demoff a few weeks ago to politely decline if Nebraska called.
A message seeking comment from Demoff was not immediately returned.
