AREA COLLEGES Matt Marks leads B-W past Wilmington by 1



Mount Union improved to 2-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
BEREA -- Freshman forward Matt Marks, a Boardman High graduate, tied a career high with 10 points to lead Baldwin-Wallace past Wilmington, 95-94, in Saturday's Ohio Athletic Conference game at the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium.
Junior Thad Davis capped a 6-0 run in the final minute with a game-winning layup with five seconds remaining.
Baldwin-Wallace (5-2, 1-1) led 43-38 at halftime.
Wilmington (1-5, 1-1) had 19 3-pointers.
Mount Union 84, Otterbein 73
ALLIANCE -- Brad Gerard scored 19 points to lead four Purple Raiders in double figures.
Kyle Karpinski had 18 points for Mount Union (5-2, 2-0), while Jason Smith scored 12 and Rob Paulauskas had 10. Chris Blakely added 21 rebounds for the Raiders.
Tony Borghese and Neil Hohman each scored 13 for Otterbein (6-2, 2-1).
Geneva 70, Walsh 53
CANTON -- Tim Sawyer had 12 points and Stefan Grundberg added 11 for Geneva (7-5) in the Hoops for Healing Tournament.
Walsh (4-5) took an early 9-5 lead, then surrendered 14 straight points to fall behind for good.
Matt Parker led the Cavaliers with 11 points.
Women
SOUTH EUCLID -- Thiel freshman Fontella Jones had 10 points and six rebounds in a losing effort, as the Tomcats dropped an 85-48 decision to Notre Dame College Saturday.
Notre Dame had three players in double figures, led by Maggie Steadley's 20, while Samantha Shagovac added 13 points and six rebounds.
Notre Dame led 44-16 at halftime.
Otterbein 91, Mount Union 68
WESTERVILLE -- Diana Esterkamp tied Otterbein's career assist record (503) with a career-high 17 assists.
Brianne Gray had 21 points and six rebounds (5-1, 1-1) for Otterbein, while Heather Gepper and Danielle Hobrook each scored 16.
Ashley Bourdeau led Mount Union (3-4, 0-2) with 23 points.
Grove City 70, Hilbert 50
ERIE, Pa. -- Misty Wadowsky had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead Grove City in the consolation game of the Penn State Behrend Winter Classic.
Junior guard Abby Moose, a Mercer High graduate, added 14 points for Grove City (4-3).
