WASHINGTON -- The Capitals made coach Glen Hanlon's debut a successful one, scoring three quick first-period goals. Jaromir Jagr, Peter Bondra, Dainius Zubrus, Matt Pettinger, Bates Battaglia and Jeff Halpern all scored for Washington, which broke a three-game losing streak. Mike Knuble, Dan McGillis, Martin Lapointe, Ted Donato and Travis Green scored for the Bruins.
Senators 3, Lightning 2
OTTAWA -- Marian Hossa ended a 10-game goal-scoring drought and Patrick Lalime made 22 saves for Ottawa. Radek Bonk and Bryan Smolinski also scored for the Senators. Dave Andreychuk and Ruslan Fedotenko scored for the Lightning.

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Ed Belfour stopped 28 shots for his third shutout of the season, and Tom Fitzgerald scored for Toronto. Belfour's 68th career shutout moved him into 11th place on the NHL's all-time list. He's also second among active goaltenders behind New Jersey's Martin Brodeur, who has 70.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Ziggy Palffy scored two goals and added an assist for Los Angeles. Luc Robitaille and Jason Holland also scored for the Kings. Kings goalie Roman Cechmanek left at 11:33 of the first period after bruising his hip when he collided with the Predators' David Legwand and didn't return. Cristobal Huet replaced Cechmanek and stopped 29 of 30 shots. Nashville's goal was scored by Martin Erat.
Blackhawks 4, Red Wings 3, OT
CHICAGO -- Mark Bell scored 15 seconds into overtime as Chicago ended its 14-game winless streak (0-9-2-3). Brendan Shanahan scored with 1:08 remaining in the third period and goalie Curtis Joseph on the bench for an extra attacker to tie it for the Red Wings and send it to overtime. Chicago rookie Tuomo Ruutu scored with 6:31 remaining in regulation to give the Blackhawks a 3-2 lead. Tyler Arnason and Igor Radulov also scored for the Blackhawks.

CALGARY, Alberta -- Shean Donovan scored in the third period, and Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 23 shots for his first shutout with Calgary. Donovan scored his team-leading 12th of the season 1:45 into the third period.
Avalanche 1, Canucks 1
VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Ed Jovanovski scored on an end-to-end rush 6:02 into the third period for Vancouver. Rookie Alex Auld, a surprise starter after being recalled from Manitoba of the AHL on Tuesday, made 27 saves for the Canucks. Rob Blake scored early, and David Aebischer made 19 of his 37 saves in the third period as the Avalanche extended their unbeaten streak to seven games.
Sharks 2, Oilers 2
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Patrick Marleau scored two goals and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 42 shots in his first start in nearly three weeks for San Jose. Jason Smith and Ales Hemsky scored for the Oilers. Ty Conklin stopped 28 shots for Edmonton. With their NHL-leading 10th tie of the season, the Sharks matched the longest home unbeaten streak in franchise history by earning a point in their seventh straight game at the Shark Tank (3-0-4).
