Mayor of Greenfield
John Baal, a 1967 graduate of Youngstown East High School, was elected mayor of Greenfield, Ohio, on Nov. 4. Greenfield is 60 miles southwest of Columbus. Democrat Baal unseated Republican incumbent Lenny Bryant.
Baal graduated from Kent State University in 1972 with a bachelor's in mathematics. He has been a high-school math teacher at Greenfield McClain for 32 years.
Baal has served five terms as a city council member and is completing his third term as council president.
He is the son of John and Theresa Baal of Youngstown.
LAWYERS
Passes Ohio bar exam
Atty. Joey L. Caccarozzo, daughter of Joseph and Nikki Caccarozzo of Austintown, has passed the Ohio State Bar Examination and recently attended the admissions ceremony in Columbus.
A 1996 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, she earned her bachelor of arts in Criminal Justice at Baldwin-Wallace College in 2000. In May of 2003 she received her juris doctorate with a concentration in litigation from the University of Akron School of Law.
Passes Pa. bar exam
Louis R. Garland, son of Denise and Tom Nycz of Boardman and Larry Garland of Girard, has passed the Pennsylvania bar exam.
He graduated from Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences and earned his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh Law School. He plans to take the Ohio bar exam in February.
Sworn in as lawyer
Michael O. Kivlighan, a son of Thomas and Barbara Kivlighan of Canfield, has passed the Ohio bar exam and was sworn in last month as a lawyer.
Atty. Kivlighan, a 1996 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School, earned his bachelor's degree from Ohio University in 2000. He received his law degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
Passes Ohio exam
Andrew Walker, a son of Bill and Linda Walker of McDonald, has passed the Ohio bar exam.
Atty. Walker is a 1991 graduate of McDonald High School. He received his bachelor's degree cum laude from Miami University in Oxford in 1995, and earned his juris doctorate from Ohio State University earlier this year.
While at OSU, he was associate editor of The Journal on Dispute Resolution and was elected to the Order of the Coif. Before attending law school, Walker was a senior tax associate in the Cleveland office of Anderson LLP. He is also a certified public accountant. He is employed at the law firm of Jones Day in Cleveland.
