Autopsy fails to reveal cause of Thiel College student's death

GREENVILLE, Pa. -- An autopsy failed to show the cause of death of a Thiel College student stricken in his dorm Thursday.
Shawn M. Walton, 19, of McKinnon Avenue, East Liverpool, had complained of difficulty breathing before being taken to UPMC Horizon. He was pronounced dead in the emergency room at 11:30 a.m.
Cris Loutzenhiser, Mercer County deputy coroner, said an autopsy performed Friday didn't determine a cause of death. Toxicology and microscopic tissue exams will now be done in an effort to find the cause, he said, noting the process could take two weeks.
There is no evidence of any foul play, Loutzenhiser said.
Walton, at 6 foot 4 inches and 225 pounds, was a member of the Thiel basketball team.
Walton had taken a final course exam at 8 a.m. Thursday and later complained of difficulty breathing, Loutzenhiser said.
There was a report that he had told another student Wednesday that he didn't feel well, Loutzenhiser said.
