The city's board of control approved these items Thursday:
Nine new streetlights around the city to correct safety hazards for pedestrians or vehicles. The lights will go up at: The side yard of 498 Madera Ave.; Glenwood and Mistletoe avenues; 2404 Bears Den Road; 2451 Arrowae Dr.; 611 Clearmount Dr.; the dead end of South Whitney Avenue; 1901 Porter Ave.; 1363 Rigby St.; and the side yard at 2401 Belmont Ave.
A 10-year 75-percent tax abatement for Exal Corp. The company in the Performance Place Industrial Park is building a $1.7 million addition to its aluminum container manufacturing plant to store more inventory.
A contract not to exceed $9,900 for Excavation Technologies of Masury to build a gravel parking lot at Tod Avenue and Irving Place to alleviate parking problems on Irving.
Payment of $9,100 to L.E.C. Inc. of Youngstown for emergency repair of a sanitary sewer main and lateral connection at 427 W. Ravenwood Ave.
Payment of $3,733 to L.E.C. Inc. of Youngstown for emergency repair of a sanitary and storm sewer on Parker Street.
