Woman gets probation for school thefts
YOUNGSTOWN -- An Austintown woman was placed on two years' probation Friday for stealing some $25,000 in lunch money from Frank Ohl Middle School in Austintown, where she worked as a cafeteria aid.
Terri L. Wolfe, 43, of North Navarre Avenue, was ordered to spend the first 10 days of her probation in the Mahoning County Jail. Judge Maureen A. Cronin did not order her to make restitution, but said the school district can file a civil lawsuit against Wolfe to recover the money.
Wolfe pleaded guilty in October to one count of theft in office, a fourth-degree felony. As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors dismissed two additional counts.
Authorities said Wolfe stole money from the school by taking $10 and $20 bills pupils used to pay for lunch and slipping them into a bag under the table. Thefts happened between September 2002 and March 2003.
