International Steel Groupsets its stock price
RICHFIELD, Ohio -- International Steel Group Inc. said its initial public offering of 16.5 million shares of common stock has been priced at $28 per share. Shares were to begin trading this morning on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol ISG. The company was formed in 2002 by WL Ross & amp; Co. LLC's acquisition of LTV Steel facilities.
Kroger stores, union settle on new contract
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Some 3,300 union members from 44 Kroger stores in Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia ratified a contract Thursday to end their standoff with the Cincinnati supermarket chain over medical coverage.
The company agreed to increase its annual contribution toward union health benefits by 10.5 percent, an increase of $3 million over its pre-strike offer. United Food and Commercial Workers Local 400 members agreed to switch from a system where they could visit any doctor or hospital to a Blue Cross/Blue Shield plan.
Judge to mull steel deal
FAIRLAWN, Ohio -- A proposal to buy assets of bankrupt steel company Republic Engineered Products LLC will be presented to a judge, who could approve the deal as soon as Monday, a company spokesman said.
Republic, which employs 2,300 in three states, accepted a $245 million bid for its assets from Perry Strategic Capital. Fairlawn-based Republic's assets would transfer to PAV Republic Inc., a new company formed by Perry.
