NHL ROUNDUP Wednesday's other games

Thrashers 4, Kings 3, OT
ATLANTA -- Marc Savard scored his second goal of the game with 1 minute, 23 seconds remaining in overtime in a matchup of first-place teams. Slava Kozlov and Shawn McEachern gave Atlanta a 3-2 lead, but Joseph Corvo found the net with just 4.8 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime. After both goaltenders made some big saves, the Thrashers finally picked up the winner. Savard passed to Ilya Kovalchuk streaking down the left side. Cristobal Huet made the save on Atlanta's best scorer but couldn't control the rebound, which Savard stuffed in at the side of the net. Byron Dafoe stopped 29 shots to win for the second time in five days. Before that, he had gone nearly 10 months between victories. The teams scored three first-period goals within a span of 1:37 as Los Angeles went up 2-0 before Atlanta cut the deficit in half. It remained that way until the final frantic minutes.
Devils 1, Islanders 0, OT
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Patrik Elias, stopped on a penalty shot early in overtime, scored at 2:09 of the extra period. Martin Brodeur made 18 saves to record his league-high sixth shutout of the season and the 70th of his career. Garth Snow stopped 34 shots, including Elias' penalty shot just 16 seconds into the overtime after Roman Hamrlik was called for hooking Elias on a breakaway. The forward tried to deke Snow, but the big goaltender followed him every stride in stoning him with his left leg. Snow never had a chance on the winning goal, but was outstanding in the opening two periods when he made 25 saves. At least 10 of the chances were quality ones, with the best being consecutive stops on Erik Rasmussen and Jeff Friesen in the first period.
Canadiens 2, Rangers 1
NEW YORK -- Jan Bulis broke a third-period tie and set up Montreal's other goal. Bulis got free in the right circle, curled around and snapped a wrist shot over Mike Dunham's glove at 6:12. Bulis also assisted on Mike Ribeiro's goal in the first period that gave Montreal a 1-0 lead. Chris Simon scored in the second period for New York, which lost for the fourth time in five games and the third straight at home. The Rangers are 0-7 in one-goal games. Martin Rucinsky missed an open net midway through the third that would have tied it for New York. The Rangers were bailed out on the ensuing two Montreal rushes when the Canadiens caught the goal posts twice. Jose Theodore made 28 saves, including 15 in the first period, and endured two scary moments just before Montreal regained the lead.
Bruins 1, Panthers 1
SUNRISE, Fla. -- Ted Donato scored a short-handed goal with 9:08 remaining in the third period to help Boston salvage a tie. Valeri Bure scored in the first period for Florida. Boston's Andrew Raycroft finished with 30 saves, while Roberto Luongo made 29 saves for Florida.
Red Wings 7, Sabres 2
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Pavel Datsyuk had two goals and an assist, and Curtis Joseph made 23 saves for Detroit. Kris Draper had a goal and two assists, Mathieu Schneider and Boyd Devereaux each had a goal and an assist, and Kirk Maltby and Jiri Hudler also scored for the Red Wings. Daniel Briere and Jochen Hecht scored for the Sabres.
Coyotes 2, Stars 1
PHOENIX -- Sean Burke made 39 saves, helping Phoenix snap an eight-game winless streak against Dallas. Shane Doan and Daymond Langkow scored for the Coyotes, who last beat the Stars on Feb. 26, 2002. Ladislav Nagy assisted on each goal. Burke tied his season high for saves in his 200th game with Phoenix. He had 34 before rookie Trevor Daley spoiled his shutout bid with a power-play goal 8:20 into the third period.
Mighty Ducks 3, Sharks 2
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Ruslan Salei and Petr Sykora scored 49 seconds apart in the third period to rally Anaheim. Scott Hannan and Scott Parker scored for San Jose, but the Ducks' Andy McDonald closed the gap to 2-1 in the second. Sykora's goal 7:20 into the third period tied it briefly before Salei completed the comeback.
