Mission needs toys
WARREN -- The Warren Family Mission says it is in dire need of about 3,000 toys for Christmas. The mission, 361 Elm Road N.E., has between 500 to 600 toys, including those left over from last year. The mission last year gave gifts to about 1,500 youths up to the age of 18, said the Rev. Tom Weaver, the mission's outreach pastor. Most of the youths are age 14 or younger.
Each youth gets a larger gift and a smaller gift, along with stocking stuffers.
"Donations have kind of dropped off," said the Rev. Mr. Weaver.
Joseph Sphon, the director of the client services, said the mission was trying to obtain toys from the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, which provided toys last year. Some of those were left over for this year, he said.
