GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Janet A. Barlett, executive director of development at Grove City College, was recently presented the Outstanding Fund Raising Executive Award by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Western Pennsylvania Chapter.
Barlett has worked in development at Grove City College since 2000 when the College kicked off a $60 million fund-raising campaign that funded four construction projects on campus and raised more than $20 million for student scholarships.
She began her career at her alma mater, Carlow College in Pittsburgh, as director of annual giving. She has also held positions at the Pittsburgh Mercy Foundation, where she directed the individual giving program, and as director of development at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Nursing.
YOUNGSTOWN -- United Community Financial Corp., parent company of Home Savings and Butler Wick Corp., is being recognized as one of Northeast Ohio's top-performing companies as the recipient of a 2004 NEO Success Award. The award, presented by Inside Business Magazine, recognizes the top performing businesses in an 18-county region of Northeast Ohio. Recipients were selected based on a two-year-growth formula that includes revenue growth, employee growth and profitability.
COLUMBIANA -- Richard Schmidt of Floor Coverings International in Columbiana has achieved status as a Certified Flooring Professional. To earn the designation, he had to pass a certification exam and meet educational and work experience requirements set by the World Floor Covering Association based in Anaheim, California, an industry.
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Jennifer Gross, a 1999 Westminster College graduate, recently received the school's Public Relations Student Society of America Rising Star Award. Gross is an account manager with Skutski & amp; Oltmanns, Inc., a public relations agency in Pittsburgh. The award goes to an outstanding professional who has been in the public relations field less than five years. As a Westminster student Gross was instrumental in establishing a local chapter of the PRSSA, and she was an intern with Ketchum Public Relations and St. Francis Hospital.
