Voice of 6th Ward residents ignored by party chairman
EDITOR:
The 6th Ward City Council seat must be filled! On Nov. 4, we had an election and by chance someone did win the election to represent the people of the 6th Ward. To my surprise it wasn't Lisa Antonini, chairperson of the Mahoning County Democratic party.
She cannot equate the benign and whimsical political concerns of two incoming elected officials to the mandated constitutional rights of 10,000-plus constituents being rendered voiceless by her dictatorial mentality and racial insensitivity. Systemic cultural racial bias has reared its ugly head again, when two white elected officials are given preference at the expense of one black elected official and yet another white American (Lisa Antonini) wants total control, determining the beneficiaries (who are white) and maintaining all advantages.

Not many stores stock the reason for the season
EDITOR:
How many of the retailers remember why we celebrate Christmas? Periodically the last couple weeks I looked for an outdoor nativity display. I stopped at department stores, large chain stores, hardware stores, and even, believe it or not, a Christmas specialty store with hundreds of lighted fully decorated trees without a manger scene to be found.
Then I began letting my fingers do the walking. One hardware store had had them but were sold out and not getting more. Another store actually had some. In fact, two different sets. Hallelujah! Not only did they have them but they had two different sets to choose from. Then I couldn't decide which I should get. But after checking where they were made , it was an easy decision. I got the one that said & quot;MADE IN THE U.S.A. & quot; I walked away thanking God.
Merry Christmas, everybody

U.S. needs tougher controls against animal abuse
EDITOR:
I have read on The Vindicator's Web site the article by Peggy Sinkovich about the small lion cub at Noah's Lost Ark animal sanctuary, and I just wanted to say that the plight of this little animal indicates just how seriously out of control the sale of exotic animals has become in the United States.
On the Captive Wild Animal Protection Coalition's Web site I have seen the huge list of incidents that have occurred in the U.S.A. over the past several years, and I can only urge all reasonable and sensible people to petition their elected representatives for the introduction of far tougher controls. At the moment, animals are the victims of an unseen dysfunctional system.

Not in our backyards
EDITOR:
We the people of Hubbard are faced with having a dump dumped on us.
Maryland-based Transrail, owner of the property, had a meeting with the Army Corps of Engineers, excluding our elected officials. The company comes to town with its high-priced attorney from Cleveland to decide what to do in our community.
All they are going to do is rape the land, screw up our environment, fill their pockets and leave us with an ugly dump.
People of Hubbard, call your elected officials and make sure you are heard. We don't need a dump in our community! Dump it in Maryland or in Cleveland, next to the attorney's house so he and his family can enjoy odor, the dust and the ugly sight.
