Seniors Annie Buschur and Colleen Royer have been named team co-Most Valuable Players.
Royer, who finished her career ranked sixth all-time with 1,045 career kills, led the Penguins with 422 kills and 308 digs this season and became the seventh YSU player to record 1,000 career kills. Royer's 422 kills in 2003 rank as the fourth-highest single-season total in school history.
Buschur, who collected 325 kills in 2003, led YSU and ranked second in the Horizon League with 1.28 blocks per game. Buschur also ranked ninth in the Horizon League with a .269 hitting percentage. This season, Buschur became the eighth YSU player to collected 1,000 career kills and ranks eighth all-time with 1,005 kills. Buschur also ranks second all-time with 477 career blocks.

Alliance gamerescheduled
ALLIANCE -- The postponed boys basketball game between Alliance and Carrollton will be made up Saturday at Alliance High School. The junior varsity game will tip off at 6 p.m. Tickets from the Dec. 5 postponement will be honored.
Springfield tickets
Tickets for Springfield High's boys basketball game against East Palestine Friday at Beeghly Center are on sale at the Springfield High office.
The game is at 8:30 and is the finale of a tripleheader. The first game, at 5:30, features Columbiana against Western Reserve; the second game is United vs. Crestview.
Reserved tickets for the night are $8 and general admission is $5.
Phantoms Mites win 2
The Youngstown Junior Phantoms Mites improved to 3-2 with two victories over Parma, 7-1 and 6-1.
Christopher Shannon scored five goals and Matt Lacko had two in the first game. In the second game, Stan Miketa, Ryan Debeic, Jacob Carner and Lacko scored. Bryce Allen was the winning goalie in each game.
Boardman falls 5-2
Boardman High's ice hockey club team lost to Mercyhurst Prep 5-2 recently.
Bob Walla scored both goals for Boardman (7-4) while Tristan Lyskowski and Jim Pipoly had assists. Goalie John Yuhaniak had 26 saves.
Browns Boosters
NILES -- The Ohio Browns Boosters' Christmas party will be Dec. 16 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Kahunaville in Eastwood Mall.
Browns linebacker Andra Davis will be the special guest.

Mill Creek Baseballseeks old photographs
In May 2004 the Mill Creek Jr. Baseball League will celebrate it's 50th season. The league is compiling a book of memories to be included in the celebration.
Any former players, coaches, managers and sponsors, and anyone else involved with the league from 1954 to the present are invited to submit photos for inclusion. Photos will be returned upon request.

Nagurski Trophy
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Oklahoma cornerback Derrick Strait won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy on Monday as the top defensive college football player of the year.
Strait, a senior, edged Sooners tackle Tommie Harris, UCLA end Dave Ball, Louisiana State tackle Chad Lavalais and West Virginia linebacker Grant Wiley.
At 5-foot-11 and 195 pounds, Strait led the Big 12 in fumbles recovered with four and was fourth in the conference in passes defended, with 12 breakups to go with his three interceptions.
Tiger Woods named player of year
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- A wild season in golf came to a familiar conclusion when Tiger Woods was voted PGA Tour player of the year for the fifth straight time, narrowly beating Vijay Singh.
Woods failed to win the PGA Tour money title or a major championship for the first time since 1998. Still, his peers decided his season was the best on tour.
Woods won five times, including two World Golf Championships, had the lowest scoring average and was second on the money list, despite playing only 18 times.
PGA qualifier
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Sweden's Mathias Gronberg won the PGA Tour qualifying tournament, and former Ryder Cup player Steve Pate and veteran Jay Delsing also secured 2004 cards.
Gronberg, a four-time winner on the European tour, topped the 34 PGA Tour qualifiers, closing with a 4-under 68 to beat Danny Ellis by two strokes in the six-round event.
Gronberg finished with a 20-under 412 total.
