Poland man flees hospital after arrest



Austintown police are looking for a Poland man who fled from Forum Health Northside Medical Center Monday afternoon after he was arrested in Youngstown on outstanding warrants from Austintown and traffic charges in Youngstown.
Phillip Massaro, 43, of Venloe Drive, is wanted on warrants for abusing harmful intoxicants and criminal damaging. Youngstown police charged him with failure to comply, driving without a license and failure to control.
Reports state that Massaro was involved in a chase with Youngstown police that began on Martin Luther King Boulevard around 11:30 a.m. Monday and ended when Massaro's 1996 Chevrolet Lumina crashed into a tree on Worthington Street around 12:40 p.m. He was arrested and taken to the Austintown police station, where he complained of neck, back and leg pain as a result of the crash.
Massaro was then taken to Northside. Police said they asked Forum Health security to watch Massaro until they could arrive at the hospital.
Security called police around 2:30 p.m. Monday and said Massaro had fled from the hospital's X-ray area.
