THURSDAY
XPasta dinners will be served from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at the Croatian Home, 3200 Vestal Road, Youngstown. Meals will include red or white spaghetti, cavatelli or cheese ravioli, salad, bread and coffee.
FRIDAY
XHoly Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will be selling potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at (330) 755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Orders may be picked up from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday. Patrons are asked to provide containers.
XHoly Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church will serve fish dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church hall, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod, Spanish rice or haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries, coleslaw, string beans, applesauce, bread, and coffee or tea. The cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at (330) 792-1005.
XHoly Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown, will be selling pirogi, hot pirogi lunches, and plain, cinnamon and powdered sugar doughnuts. Orders will be taken from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday at (330) 746-9528. Orders should be placed early and are to be picked up by 2 p.m. Friday. Takeouts are by advance order only. Cost is $4 for a dozen pirogi.
XHubbard VFW 3767 Auxiliary, 710 W. Liberty St., will hold a fish fry from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Cost is $6.75 for large dinners, baked or fried, and $5 for small dinners. The menu also will feature a choice of french fries, haluski or macaroni and cheese. Carryouts will be available. For information call (330) 534-9775.
XNational Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon, 2759 Lipkey Road, North Jackson, will be serving a fish buffet and selling pirogi. The buffet will be available from 3:30 to 7 p.m., and the cost will be $9 for adults and $6 for children. Potato and cheese pirogi may be ordered ahead as a takeout. The cost is $4 a dozen.
XPotato pirogi will be sold at St. Anne Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown. To order call (330) 799-0084 from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 a.m. Friday. Cost is $3.75 per dozen. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; patrons may provide their own containers and are asked to use the side entrance. Lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
XSt. Anthony Church, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown, will be selling pizza and other Italian treats. Orders may be placed by calling (330) 746-9577 from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. and must be picked up by 1 p.m.
XPotato, prune and kraut pirogi will be sold at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at (330) 755-1316. Orders can be picked up beginning at noon. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. Final sales for the year will be Dec. 19.
XSt. Luke Church, 5235 South Ave., Boardman, will be baking Italian-style red and white pizza. Phone orders will be accepted at (330) 788-0025 between 8 and noon only. Pickup will be until 1 p.m.
XSt. Paul the Apostle Church, Main Street, New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi. Orders can be called to (330) 542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Frozen pirogi also will be available. The last date for pirogi sales before Christmas will be Dec. 19. Sales will resume Jan. 9.
XSt. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. Advance orders will be taken at (330) 747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 2 Friday, based upon availability. The cost is $3.50 a dozen. Lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers and use the side entrance. This is the last sale before Christmas; sales will resume Jan. 9.
XSts. Cyril and Methodius Church, Warren, will sell potato, sweet cabbage, sauerkraut and lekvar pirogi from noon to 5 p.m. at the school auditorium, 185 Laird Ave. N.E. Haluski also will be available. Orders should be placed in advance; call (330) 393-0781 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
XVFW Post 3307, 1351 Albert St., Youngstown, will have a fish fry from 4 to 8 p.m. Cost is $5.75 for fish, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese or french fries. A fish sandwich for $3.25 will also be available ($3.75 with fries). For carryout call (330) 746-8113.
SATURDAY
XCalvary United Methodist Church, state Route 164 at 165, North Lima, will hold a cookie sale from 10 a.m. to noon. There also will be candies, kolachi and some crafts.
XCampbell "O" Club will present a Russian Christmas Cookie Walk from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. John's Orthodox Church, 301 Struthers-Liberty Road, Campbell. Cookies are $8 a pound, selected by buyer from over 25 varieties. Clothespin cookies and pizzelles will be sold prepackaged by the dozen.
XFowler United Methodist Church, 3426 Youngstown-Kingsville Road, will hold a chicken pie dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Included will be potatoes, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw, cottage cheese, bread, beverage and dessert. XImmaculate Heart of Mary Altar and Rosary Society will sponsor a Christmas bake sale in the church vestibule after Masses Saturday and Sunday.
SUNDAY
XOur Lady of Mount Carmel Church on Via Mount Carmel, Youngstown, will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church hall. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Carryouts will be available; containers are 75 cents or you can provide your own.
XSalem Elks Club, 824 E. State St., will sponsor a breakfast with Santa from 9 a.m. to noon. The menu will feature scrambled eggs, home fries, French toast, bacon, sausage, juice and coffee. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children. There also will be a Chinese auction and pictures with Santa. Proceeds will benefit Miracles Unlimited to help children with motor disabilities.
