2 Warren men are charged in theft from vacant house
CAMPBELL -- Two Warren men were charged with theft, burglary and other offenses after city police reported they caught them in the process of taking lead-glass windows from a vacant house at 574 12th St., early Tuesday morning.
The two men, cousins Christopher and Lawrence Duecaster, of East Avenue, led police on foot and car chases before being caught.
About 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, police saw a white minivan parked on the road in front of 574 12th St., which was vacant and for sale, and saw a man putting something into the van. When the suspect saw police, he began running through rear yards, and the officer pursued him on foot.
Suspects are caught
Officers said the white minivan sped off with another officer in pursuit. The van ran several red traffic lights before the driver stopped on Rutledge and fled on foot. The officer caught the driver on Elion Street and arrested the him. Police identified him as Lawrence Duecaster, 34.
Christopher, 24, who had fled on foot, was caught while walking on Oak Street near Himrod Avenue, in Youngstown.
Both Duecasters pleaded innocent to misdemeanor theft charges at their arraignments Tuesday in municipal court, and Lawrence also pleaded innocent to reckless operation of a vehicle.
Both men are scheduled for preliminary hearings at 9 a.m. Tuesday on charges of felony burglary and possession of criminal tools, court officials said.
