STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Kelly Mazzante scored 15 of her 19 points in the second half, and Penn State extended its home winning streak to 22 games while handing Texas its first loss. The Nittany Lions (5-1) hadn't beaten an opponent ranked so high in 11 seasons. Tanisha Wright scored 21 points for Penn State, and Jess Strom had 19 points, seven steals and six assists. Heather Shreiber led the Longhorns (7-1) with 17 points.

LOS ANGELES -- Diana Taurasi hit two 3-pointers in the final 2:39 when Connecticut clung to a one-point lead. The Huskies' 72-game regular-season winning streak was in jeopardy until Taurasi scored their final nine points. She finished with 26. The Huskies (6-0) also got 19 points from Barbara Turner. Southern California (1-3) got 15 points from Ebony Hoffman.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Shyra Ely had 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead Tennessee (3-0), which took control midway through the first half and stretched its lead to 17 points with 8:38 remaining. The Techsters (3-1), who have lost four straight games to Tennessee, got 17 points from Amisha Carter.

HOUSTON -- Shereka Wright scored 13 of her 21 points in the second half, and Purdue won its fifth straight game. Erika Valek had 10 points and six assists for Purdue (6-1). Chandi Jones scored 24 points and Sancho Lyttle 23 for Houston (5-2).

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Lindsay Whalen scored a game-high 19 points and Janel McCarville had her fourth double-double of the season. McCarville finished with 13 points and 15 rebounds for Minnesota (7-0), which also got 14 points from Liz Podominick. Katie Houlehan led the Kangaroos (2-4) with 16 points.

NORFOLK, Va. -- Myriah Spence hit two 3-pointers in a late 13-3 run, and Old Dominion rallied to hand North Carolina its first defeat. Spence and Monique Coker scored 17 points apiece for the Monarchs (4-3). Camille Little led North Carolina (6-1) with 23 points.

NORMAN, Okla. -- Dionnah Jackson scored 17 points and Caton Hill added 16 to help Oklahoma remain unbeaten. Utah was in front 28-27 with six minutes remaining in the first half when Oklahoma (6-0) took command with three consecutive 3-pointers -- two by Hill. Kim Smith had 18 points and Mandie Little 16 for Utah (5-2), which had won four straight.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Erin Gibson had 13 points and 12 rebounds to help keep Virginia Tech undefeated. Ieva Kublina and Dawn Chriss added 13 points apiece for the Hokies (6-0). Kublina also pulled down six rebounds. Monique Bivins had 12 points and seven boards for Alabama (4-2).
