COLLEGE MEN Mount Union men beat Muskingum
Hiram and Slippery Rock came up short.
MUSKINGUM -- Chris Blakely was the only player in double figures with 12 points but the Purple Raiders used a balanced attack Saturday as the Mount Union College men's basketball team turned back Muskingum, 58-45.
Nine players scored points and 14 got into action for the Raiders (4-2, 1-1 Ohio Athletic Conference).
Muskingum (3-2, 1-1) led 30-29 after 20 minutes of play.
Denison 79, Hiram 61
HIRAM -- Danny Hodgkinson shot 7-for-12 from the field and 10-for-11 from the foul line to collect 24 points for Denison (2-5, 1-1 North Coast Athletic Conference).
Carlton Dean led all scorers with 26 points and A. J. White tacked on 13 points for Hiram (1-5, 0-1).
Millersville 98, Slippery Rock 73
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Micah Davenport led the winners (5-3) with 22 points.
Shaun Grill was the leading scorer for the Rock (1-5) with 22 points.
Frostburg 90, Westminster 62
FROSTBURG, W. Va. -- Myro Small led five double-figure scorers for Frostburg St. (3-3) with 15 points.
Don Joseph and Ed Pagley -- both graduates of New Castle High School -- scored 16 and 10 points respectively for the Titans (1-4).
Houghton 73, Geneva 71
HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Justin Pauley cracked the 1,000-career point plateau with a 14 point-game to lead Houghton (2-5, 1-0 American Mideast Conference North Division).
Tim Sawyer led Geneva (6-4, 0-1) with 21 points and Stefan Grundberg had 10 points.
Geneva led by 15 points, 59-44, with 10 minutes left in the affair.
Case 87, Grove City 54
CLEVELAND -- Carson Oren scored 17 points and five teammates were in double figures to help a balanced attack at Case (2-5).
Ryan Eller was the only player for Grove City (2-3) in double figures with 17 points.
