BESSEMER, Pa. -- Shawn Carr poured in 23 points Saturday as the Mohawk High basketball team defeated Poland, 65-50.
Shane Finnin scored nine points at the free-throw line for the Warriors (4-0).
Chad Fender led Poland (0-1) with 21 points.
Salem 72, Chaney 57
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Quakers gave Jeff Brink his first victory as Salem's coach.
The Quakers connected on 26 of 55 field goals and they were 17 of 22 from the foul line.
Tom Jesko, who had four steals, and Joe Smith, with 12 rebounds, each had 16 points for Salem. Tyler Pierce and Landon Heath, who had nine steals, added 14 and 12 points respectively.
Dominique Peak sparked the Cowboys (0-1) with 15 points and eight rebounds. Kelvin Shaw added 14 points and he had nine assists. Jeremy Tomlin chipped in with 10 points and six steals.

MASSILLON -- Josh Yanko scored 17 points and Josh Taylor added 10 as Jackson upended The Rayen School.
The Jackson defense limited the Tigers (1-1) to six points in the first quarter and two in second in building a 23-8 lead by halftime.
The Tigers were sparked by Dominic Crosby with 12 points.
Kent Roosevelt 70, Boardman 67
KENT -- Mike DeOnofrio scored 22 points, Nick Ludban 18, Jay Davis 14 and Chris Wire 13 for the Spartans (1-1).
Omar Burns and Mitch Hutchison had 17 each for Kent (2-0).
St. Thomas Aquinas 76, Ursuline 65
LOUISVILLE -- Ricky Jackson scored 28 points and copped 10 rebounds to lead St. Thomas Aquinas past Ursuline, in the season opener for both teams.
Brett Neely scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Brandon Braxton had 18 points and 11 rebounds to pace Ursuline.
Western Reserve 60, Waterloo 37
ATWATER -- The Blue Devils started slow but finished fast in pulling away from Waterloo in their season opener.
Nick Sanders had 19 points and 12 rebounds as Western Reserve outscored Waterloo 44-20 in the second half, including 28 points in the fourth quarter.
Jake Zatchok added 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Mark Dickerhoof had 10 points. Matt Speece also grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out four assists. Dave Ferrando also had four assists.
South Range 57, Leetonia 44
NORTH LIMA -- Jordan Taylor led the Raiders (1-0) attack with 16 points.
The Raiders limited the Bears (0-1) with two points in the first period and held a 24-10 lead at halftime.
Cody Tittle and Matt Custer paced the Bears with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

HANOVERTON -- Dale Woolf triggered the Eagles' (1-0) attack with 15 points. Adam Martig and Josh Venable led the Warriors (0-1) with seven points apiece.

SELENVILLE -- Josh Diaz tossed in 20 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to lead Southern to a season opening win over East Liverpool Christian.
Rick Tanner added 13 points, while Rob McCoy led East Liverpool Christian with 18 points.
