AUSTINTOWN 7 school buses stuck in snow
AUSTINTOWN -- Seven school buses became stuck in the snow as they tried to drop off pupils during Friday's storm, including three buses that were not able to climb the hill on New Road just west of South Turner Road.
Two of the buses were empty. The third contained one pupil from Austintown Middle School.
The buses were stuck at the bottom of the hill from about 3:30 to 6 p.m., when county plow trucks were finally able to clear the road.
School officials said they asked the parent of the Austintown Middle School pupil not to come to the bottom of the hill to pick up the child, as it would only add to the traffic congestion.
Three other buses also were stuck and were forced to turn around on South Turner Road.
The police helped these buses turn around. There was no information on whether pupils were in these buses.
An empty bus also was stuck in the Chapel Valley area for about three hours.
