Canadiens 3, Hurricanes 1
MONTREAL -- Jose Theodore made 25 saves, and Andreas Dackell, Michael Ryder and Saku Koivu scored to lead the Montreal Canadiens.
The Canadiens extended their season-high unbeaten streak to five games (3-0-2). Theodore stopped 36 of 37 Carolina shots in a 1-1 road tie Friday.
Hurricanes goalie Kevin Weekes, who stopped 26 of 27 shots Friday, made 23 saves for Carolina. The Hurricanes, winless in three games, fell to 2-8-3 on the road.
Theodore came within 8:16 of a shutout, but allowed Danny Markov's power-play goal that cut Montreal's lead to 2-1.
Lightning 3, Sabres 1
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Nikolai Khabibulin made 37 saves, and Dave Andreychuk scored his second goal in two games in Tampa Bay's victory.
Fredrik Modin and Dimitry Afanasenkov also scored for Tampa Bay, which snapped their three-game losing streak.
Khabibulin was making his fifth start in the last six games for the Lightning, which won for the first time in seven games (1-4-2).
J.P. Dumont scored for Buffalo, which lost its second straight and third of four.
Maple Leafs 5, Red Wings 2
TORONTO -- Gary Roberts and Mats Sundin each had a goal and an assist to lead Toronto to its eighth straight victory.
Brett Hull scored his 731st NHL goal, moving the Red Wings forward into a tie with Marcel Dionne for third place on the career list. Hull has scored in six straight games and has 10 goals in 12 games.
Bryan Marchment, Tie Domi and Matt Stajan also scored for the Maple Leafs, who have their longest winning streak since taking 10 straight at the start of the 1993-94 season.
The Maple Leafs ended Detroit's five game unbeaten streak in a game that had just two penalties.
Islanders 5, Blackhawks 2
UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Alexei Yashin scored twice and Dave Scatchard returned from a shoulder injury to register a goal and assist, helping New York snap its seven-game losing streak.
The Blackhawks are winless in 13 games, including eight straight losses -- seven in regulation (0-9-1-3).
Trent Hunter and Eric Cairns also scored for New York, which beat the Blackhawks at home for just the second time in 20 meetings (2-11-7-0).
A crowd of only 3,683 came out in a snowstorm.
Rick DiPietro made 21 saves and ended his five-game losing streak.
Devils 2, Senators 1
OTTAWA -- Scott Niedermayer and Brian Gionta scored in the final 1:37 to rally New Jersey over Ottawa.
Gionta's game-winner came with just 18 seconds left in the third, just 79 seconds after Niedermayer tied it. Martin Brodeur made 18 saves for the win.
Daniel Alfredsson scored the lone goal for Ottawa, which got 18 saves from Martin Prusek in his fourth straight start.
Bruins 1, Flyers 1
BOSTON -- Jeff Hackett made 38 saves, and Mark Recchi scored a second-period goal to lift Philadelphia into a tie with Boston.
Philadelphia, which owns the NHL's best record, is 12-1-3 in its last 16 games.
Hackett, who played 18 games for the Bruins last season, made 14 saves in the first period.
Sergei Samsonov had a power-play goal for Boston, 1-3-2-1 in its last seven.
Thrashers 4, Panthers 3, OT
SUNRISE, Fla. -- Vyacheslav Kozlov scored 2:57 into overtime to lift Atlanta past Florida.
Kozlov beat Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo with a hard slap shot from just inside the blue line.
The Southeast Division-leading Thrashers also got goals from Jeff Cowan, Shawn McEachern and Ben Simon. Atlanta improved to 3-1 against Florida this season.
Blues 4, Predators 1
ST. LOUIS -- Mark Rycroft had two goals and an assist, helping the St. Louis snap Nashville's six-game winning streak.
The Predators, playing for the third time in four days, are 10-3 in their last 13 games. Nashville is four points behind St. Louis and Detroit in the Central Division.
St. Louis goalie Chris Osgood faced only 15 shots in the victory.
