AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Tom Izzo doesn't regret putting Michigan State through one of the toughest schedules in college basketball history.
Jason Detrick scored a career-high 26 points and No. 14 Oklahoma drew two charges in the final seconds to beat the fifth-ranked Spartans 80-77 in overtime Saturday.
The Sooners (5-0) gave Michigan State (3-3) its third loss in 12 days, all against ranked teams and dropped the Spartans to their worst start since 1995-96, Izzo's first season as head coach.
"If we played a cupcake, our players would've gotten a false sense of where we are," said Izzo, who had a crumpled box score in his hands nearly an hour after the game. "I'm going to play these kind of games next year and the years after -- until they fire me.
"The only thing I did wrong was the timing of our games. Not only did we play Kansas, Duke and Oklahoma in 12 days, but in between, we played Penn and DePaul."
Duke beat the Spartans 72-50 Wednesday, handing them their worst loss at home since 1997. They lost 81-74 at Kansas on Nov. 25.
Michigan State will play Kentucky next week at Ford Field in Detroit before an expected crowd of 75,000, and on the road against Syracuse and UCLA before starting the Big Ten season.
No. 4 Missouri 63, Indiana 58
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Missouri held Indiana scoreless for the final 4:29 Saturday, rallying from a 14-point deficit with seven minutes left to pull out a 63-58 victory.
The fourth-ranked Tigers (3-0) closed the game on a 21-2 run and were led by Travon Bryant with 16 points. Arthur Johnson and Linas Kleiza each added 15 points.
No. 11 Illinois 84, Arkansas 61
CHICAGO -- Deron Williams had 17 points and 10 assists and Illinois rebounded from its first loss of the season.
Williams, who had a career-high 22 points in the loss to North Carolina, left the game with five minutes to go and Illinois (4-1) leading by 27 points.
Sophomore James Augustine had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Illini, who took better care of the ball after turning it over 14 times in the first half against the Tar Heels.
No. 20 Purdue 75, Chicago St. 57
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue's troubles ended when Melvin Buckley finally started shooting.
Buckley came off the bench and matched his career high with 20 points, including nine in a 15-point run that carried the 20th-ranked Boilermakers to victory over Chicago State.
Off to its best season start in 10 years, Purdue (6-0) missed its first eight shots and trailed 10-4 before the first basket by Buckley, a 3-pointer seven minutes into the game.
No. 22 Pittsburgh 64, Penn St. 37
PITTSBURGH -- Julius Page and Jaron Brown led a Pittsburgh defense that held Penn State to only two points in a 13-minute span of the first half and the Panthers breezed to victory.
Carl Krauser and Brown each scored 14 points in a balanced offense as Pittsburgh improved to 6-0 under first-year coach Jamie Dixon.
Minnesota 86, W. Illinois 64
MINNEAPOLIS -- Ben Johnson scored 23 points and Kris Humphries had 14 points and 14 rebounds to help Minnesota beat winless Western Illinois.
Moe Hargrow added 16 points and seven rebounds for the Gophers (3-2), who opened the second half with a 12-0 run.
