AUSTINTOWN -- Police are looking for a 17-year-old girl who has been missing since Monday. Rachel E. Hill of Shadow Oak Drive left a note for her parents stating she was leaving home, police said. Anyone who has seen Hill since then is asked to call township police at (330) 799-9721.
Board to meet at office
AUSTINTOWN -- Monday's school board meeting has been moved from Frank Ohl Middle School to the board office because of a scheduling conflict. The meeting is at 7:30 p.m.
Masked gunman
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 31-year-old city man told police he was approached by a masked gunman as he sat in a delivery truck at Valley View Gas station, 1822 Mahoning Ave. The man said the gunman, about 35 to 45 years old, knocked on his window at about 7:30 a.m. Friday and asked for a light before pounding on the window with handcuffs and pulling a handgun. The driver, who sped away, said he believes the gunman is someone he knows who is a drug user.
Sale of items aids shelter
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Lottery calendars, Christmas cards and pins are just a few of the items being sold to help the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County. All are under $20. The Christmas cards were designed by children who have stayed at the shelter. The lottery calendars are good for the entire year. Proceeds support the shelter's work with violent-crime victims. Accused of identity theft
CLEVELAND -- A Warren man is accused of making fake driver's licenses and stealing identities to make credit cards. Keelan Harris, 27, of Garden Street Northwest, is charged in federal court, Cleveland, with conspiracy to commit identity theft and credit-card fraud. Officials said Harris and unnamed co-conspirators used the cards to buy electronic merchandise.
PSU student dies in fall
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- A Penn State University student died after falling down an elevator shaft in Atherton Hall. Catherine Ibanez, 21, of West Palm Beach, Fla., fell more than 40 feet when she and six other students tried to get out of an elevator that had stopped between the third and fourth floors Friday night. Instead of waiting for elevator technicians, the occupants forced the doors open. Two students jumped out safely, but Ibanez slipped and fell backward into the open shaft, officials said. An autopsy was scheduled for Saturday.
