XSt. Luke Episcopal Church, 348 Robbins Ave., Niles, will sponsor a "Christmas Gala" featuring homemade soup, baked goods and crafts from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. There will be a pancake and sausage lunch; the cost is $4.
CELEBRATIONS
XAmerican Slovak Cultural Association of the Mahoning Valley will hold its annual Vilija dinner at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Matthias School Hall, 2800 Shady Run Road, Youngstown. XFinnish American Heritage Society of Ashtabula will hold a St. Lucia breakfast and program at 9 a.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 876 Grove St., Conneaut. The menu will feature Scandinavian fruit soup, creamed rice, Finnish coffee bread, cheese, ginger cookies and hot beverages. There also will be ethnic musical entertainment as well as a reading by Delores Pelow. Tickets are $5, and all proceeds will go to the organization's log museum project. DANCES
XSalem Memorial Building Association and Salem Senior Citizens will sponsor a Holiday Hop for adults and senior citizens from 7 to 10 p.m. Dec. 17 at the memorial building gymnasium, 785 E. XYoungstown Lions Club will sponsor a Christmas party for visually impaired and special needs children at noon Tuesday at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown. Students are from Youngstown Public Schools, Leonard Kirtz School, Eagle Heights Academy and clients of Goodwill. Y-Town Tunes will provide entertainment. Santa Claus will be a special guest. The recipient of the Pauline Powers Scholarship, awarded to a student majoring in special education and social studies at Youngstown State University, will be recognized. Lions members will wrap gifts at 7 tonight at the Saxon Club for the party.
