Ohio Boychoir to perform
SALEM -- "Christmas Classics" is the theme of Ohio Boychoir's performance at 7 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul Church, 935 E. State St. The award-winning choir has performed in England, Scotland, Germany and Australia. Its program will include J.S. Bach's "Christmas Oratorio" and Benjamin Britten's "A Ceremony of Carols." Directors are founder Alexander Musichuk and Jon Simsic. Tickets may be purchased at Salem Community Theater, (330) 332-9688.
Event at arts center
YOUNGSTOWN -- Pick out a Christmas gift and treat yourself to a massage at Youngstown Mattress Company Arts Center's "Holiday Opening" at 7 p.m. Saturday. Paintings by Lisa Salcedo and sculptures by Coy Cornelius will be among the works for sale. Select pieces by various artists will be offered in a silent auction. Massage therapists Gina Nemeth and Megan Thomas will offer chair massages, and local performers will provide live music. The arts center at 460 Martin Luther King Blvd. formerly was a cold storage warehouse. Now owned by Cornelius, it houses a contains a hair salon, massotherapy office, custom frame shop, art gallery and art studio space.
Concert to feature Santa
WARREN -- W.D. Packard Concert Band's next concert will start a little earlier than usual to accommodate a special guest -- Santa Claus. The Packard Band usually performs at 3 p.m. on select Sundays but will start at 2 p.m. next Sunday. Admission is free. After the band and guest vocalist Dana Victor perform traditional holiday songs and lead the audience in a sing-along, Santa will arrive to talk with and give treats to all children in attendance.
Dinner theater at center
YOUNGSTOWN -- "Twas the Night," a musical comedy about three characters who have never celebrated Christmas or its true meaning, will be a dinner theater presentation by Archangel Arts Center at 8 p.m. Dec. 19, 2 and 8 p.m. Dec. 20 and 4 p.m. Dec. 21 at St. Stephen Church Hall, 854 Wilson Ave. The show features original music and choreography. Catering will be by Jenny Lott. Price is $15 for adults and $10 for children for the 2 p.m. Dec. 20 show only, $25 for all other shows. To make reservations, call (330) 743-2025.
