A hit-skip accident and a theft are the focus of Mercer County Crime Solvers this week:
Location: Shenango Township and Farrell, Pa.
Details: The hit-skip was at 6:41 p.m. Oct. 15 in a driveway in the 2400 block of Mercer-West Middlesex Road in Shenango Township. The theft was between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. June 11 at the Slovak Home, 800 Spearman Ave., Farrell. Gary A. Vukovich, 44, who is listed as having addresses at West Market Street, Mercer, and Hamilton Avenue, Farrell, is wanted in both crimes. Police said $128 was stolen from two lockboxes in the safe at the Slovak Home, where Vukovich worked as a janitor and was caught on videotape from a surveillance camera. In the hit-skip, police said Vukovich fled on foot from the Ohio-licensed vehicle he was driving after striking and injuring Donald Rust, a pedestrian who was flown to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
