YOUNGSTOWN -- The Rev. J. Patrick Manning, pastor of Regina Coeli Parish in Alliance, has been appointed institutional vice rector and vice president of the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus. The Josephinum is a seminary owned and operated by the Vatican that trains priests for service in dioceses throughout the United States. Father Manning will assist the rector/president, Monsignor Paul J. Langsfeld, with administrative duties. Father Manning will also assume some responsibilities for the vice rector's position in the school of theology. He begins his service Jan. 13. Ordained in 1978, Father Manning took his first appointment as associate pastor at St. Joseph Parish in Ashtabula. He was a faculty member and associate principal at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Louisville, and associate principal at John F. Kennedy High School in Warren.
Keyboard concert
HUBBARD -- Lorne Matthews of Akron will present "Keyboards for the King," a music ministry of inspirational, sacred, classical and Southern gospel at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 21, at First Assembly of God, 5900 W. 'Gloria' to be performed
WARREN -- The Motet Choir of First Presbyterian Church of Warren, 256 Mahoning Ave. N.W., will perform contemporary English composer John Rutter's "Gloria" at the service at 10 a.m. Sunday. "Gloria" was first performed in 1974 in Omaha, Neb., under direction of the composer. Accompanying the 20-voice Motet Choir will be a 10-piece brass and percussion ensemble that will include members of the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Brass Quartet, soprano soloist Ellen Summers and the church's 3,500-pipe Holtcamp organ. The service will be broadcast at noon Sunday on WKTX 830-AM.
Christmas worship
YOUNGSTOWN -- Church Hill United Methodist Church, 189 Churchill-Hubbard Road, will present "A Midnight Clear" at 5 p.m. Dec. 14. The event tells the Christmas story during a worship service featuring the church's praise and drama teams.

GIRARD -- Girard First United Methodist Church, 22 N. Market St., will have programs at 10:45 a.m. Sundays this month, including: Sunday: Christmas musical, "Listen to the Angels " by the children's choir. Dec. 14: A JOY Sunday Celebration. Baby-sitting service
GIRARD -- First Presbyterian Church, 890 Church Hill Road, will offer a free baby-sitting service for children ages 4 to 12 from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Friday and 3 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The service is being offered as a gift to the community to enable parents to go Christmas shopping without their children. Adults will supervise the event. CORTLAND -- Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 490 N. High St., will have "Come Home for Christmas" Advent services with the Warren Harding Choir at 7 p.m. Wednesday, and the Lakeview Choir at 7 p.m. Dec. 16.
Sunday themes are: Sunday, "Come Home to Hope." Dec. 14: "Come Home to Grace." Dec. 21: "Come Home to Bethlehem." Sunday services include a traditional service at 8:30 a.m. and a contemporary service at 11 a.m.
