PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP Lenarcic's basket gives Newton Falls 59-57 win



Courtney Davidson's goal delivered Ursuline's 54-52 win over Walsh Jesuit.
GARRETTSVILLE -- With about 25 seconds remaining and the score tied, Molly Lenarcic grabbed an offensive rebound and made a basket to give the Newton Falls High girls basketball team a 59-57 win over Garrettsville Garfield Wednesday.
Lenarcic scored 17 points and Kortni Collins added 16 for the Tigers (1-1).
Garfield (0-2) was paced by Katie Etling with 23 points.
Ursuline 54, Walsh Jesuit 52
STOW -- Courtney Davidson made a driving layup as time expired to give the Irish (2-0) the win.
With about three minutes remaining, the Knights (1-1) led 52-46.
Davidson, who finished with 28 points, scored a basket with just over a minute to play to tie the score at 52.
Trya Grant had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Irish.
Mathews 50, Lordstown 35
LORDSTOWN -- Sarah King, Tara Ford and Lauren Roscoe scored 13, 12 and 11 points, respectively, for the Mustangs (1-0).
Sarah Minor scored 16 points and Liz Allison had 10 for Lordstown (0-2).
Mathews led 32-25 after three quarters then put the game away with an 18-point fourth quarter.
West Branch 81, Southeast 17
BELOIT -- The Warriors (2-0) were led by Tori Arndt with 16 points, five rebounds and three steals.
Evelyn Woods, Ashley Armstrong, Crystal Bryte and Stacy Braden also scored 10 points apiece.
The Pirates fell behind 33-9 at halftime.
Windham 70, McDonald 61
WINDHAM -- Ali Roach led the Bombers with 31 points.
McDonald (0-2) was led by Ashleigh Tondo, who scored 22 points, while Amy Dolsek added 16.
Ashshena Stephens contributed 15 points and eight rebounds for McDonald.

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Mike Burkett made two free throws with six seconds remaining in overtime to lift Laurel past Beaver Falls 79-77.
Burkett scored 19 points for the Lancers (3-0). Bobby Turner and Doug Brown each scored 12 points.
Beaver Falls is 2-1.
