Natural-gas price soars with decline in supply

The price of natural gas surged 10 percent Thursday to its highest level since June as traders reacted to a larger-than-expected decline in supplies.
Natural-gas futures have been flying all week on the New York Mercantile Exchange, soaring nearly 29 percent since Monday on a rally attributed to colder weather and technical buying.
The January futures contract closed at $6.337 per 1,000 cubic feet, up 58.1 cents, Thursday after the government reported that underground inventories declined by 59 billion cubic feet for the week ending Nov. 28.
