Hepatitis cases are increasing, but more slowly

There are still no reported secondary cases.
MONACA, Pa. (AP) -- The number of hepatitis A cases linked to green onions at a Chi-Chi's restaurant in Beaver County is now 635.
The Pennsylvania Health Department is no longer updating the number of new cases daily because the number is growing slowly. This week's number is 20 more than the 615 cases reported last week.
There are still no reported secondary cases, meaning all those confirmed to have the liver disease got it directly by eating or working at the restaurant, state officials said Wednesday.
The Food and Drug Administration has a team in Mexico trying to figure out exactly how green onions were contaminated on their way to the restaurant about 45 miles southeast of Youngstown.
The results of that investigation are expected to take at least two weeks, FDA spokesman Michael Herndon said Wednesday.
