IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Brody Boyd scored 15 points and Iowa's other four starters scored in double figures Tuesday to lead the Hawkeyes to an 82-56 victory over Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Iowa (4-0) led the entire game, dominated inside and never let the Phoenix get any closer than 12 points early in the second half. But the win was far from pretty.
The Hawkeyes shot just 35 percent in the second half, committed 21 turnovers and played the first 8:42 of the second half without hitting a field goal.
Iowa spread its points evenly among the starting five. Boyd was 5-of-9 shooting, including 3-of-6 from behind the 3-point stripe.
Pierre Pierce scored 14 points, Jeff Horner and Greg Brunner each had 13 and Jared Reiner, who ended the second half drought with a lay-up, finished with 12 points.
The Hawkeyes' bigger front court proved too much for Wisconsin-Green Bay. Paced by 11 rebounds by Brunner, Iowa outrebounded the Phoenix 55-33.
Iowa also blocked eight shots and won the scoring battle in the paint 40-22.
Loyola-Chicago 83, UMKC 75, OT
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Louis Smith and Majak Kou scored career highs of 22 and 19 points, respectively, in leading Loyola-Chicago.
After a 70-70 tie at the end of regulation, Loyola (1-1) took the lead on Kou's inside shot 49 seconds into overtime and later went up by seven on a basket by Smith.
UMKC (1-2) was forced to foul to try to get back into the game. Five players fouled out, and the Kangaroos finished with just four players on the floor.
The Ramblers made only 7-of-14 free throws in overtime, but Jason Telford made three in the last 28 seconds.
