MERCER, PA. Man sentenced for burglary, theft
MERCER, Pa. -- A Mercer man was sentenced to seven to 24 months in jail for burglary and theft by unlawful taking.
Joshua Kerns, 19, of Airport Road, Mercer, was sentenced in Mercer County Common Pleas Court this week to six to 18 months for felony burglary.
Court papers say in January he entered an Applewood Lane, East Lackawannock Township residence and took four jars of coins. Then in June, he took a digital camera worth more than $400 from a Lamor Road residence in Jefferson Township. Judge Francis Fornelli declared Kerns eligible for work release and ordered him to pay restitution.
David Pollio, 18, of Beatty Street, Grove City, was placed on two years' probation for simple assault, a misdemeanor. Court papers say that in June, while at his residence, he cut another man's hand with a 9-inch knife and bit his arm and leg, causing severe cuts. Pollio was ordered to undergo drug, alcohol and anger-management assessments.
Craig Saloom, 19, of Sharon-Hogue Road, Masury, was placed on six months' probation and fined $300 for fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer. On April 11, according to court documents, he failed to stop when pursued by a police car with lights and siren. Saloom was chased from Brookfield, Ohio, into Sharon where he was apprehended by Sharon police.
Melissa Tiche, 36, of South Center Street, Grove City, was placed on one-year probation for having firearms without a license, a misdemeanor. Court papers say she possessed a loaded 9 mm handgun from November 2002 to January 2003 at her home.
